Happy Birthday to us! While we started on the Trusst journey in 2014, our revolutionary bras have only been on the market since October 2016, meaning Trusst is officially one year old today (woop!) and what better way to reflect on the past year than to sit down with our CEO and Founder, Sophia, to reflect on our past, present, and how she sees the future of Trusst.
How has Trusst evolved/grown this past year?
This past year has been one amazing ride. We brought the most technologically advanced bra to market with only an idea on pen and paper a few years ago to replace the old, uncomfortable, painful underwire.
What has been the most rewarding part of launching Trusst?
Receiving so much positive support from women around the world, and hearing from our customers on how our bras are helping them everyday. This is what drives us to make more innovative products for women.
“I have been searching for a comfortable, supportive bra for years in my size 34J. I have spent hundreds of dollars only to have imperfect sizing, painful wires and/or sagginess. FINALLY I have found the one! (Actually two because I immediately bought another one.)” -Kelley C.
“I have one of each Trusst bra now, and they really are all I wear. They are so comfortable, they are flattering, that they hold their shape incredibly well. Stop debating. Buy this bra.” -Alissa G
“LOVE IT!!!! The Best bra ever worn. It does not dig into the shoulders at all!!!!” -Jennifer H.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in opening a start-up?
Although not one bra will fit every woman the same, we are constantly working on expanding our size range, creating new designs and styles, and new categories for our customers. We are also happy that our customers are willing to work with us and provide valuable feedback about what’s not working with their current bras.
What have you learned after running another busy year with Trusst?
Running a business is a definitely an endurance challenge. Without amazing women on our team, we would not be able to function day to day.
It’s been reported that up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bras. What we have learned is that it’s 100% based how you feel in your bra. Of course there are several signs you are wearing the wrong size bra, but at the same time you want to be comfortable. Finding that perfect bra seems to be the unicorn, and Trusst is definitely in the right direction and getting very close with each iteration of our design.
What other female entrepreneurs do you look to for inspiration?
Building a brand is very difficult, and these women have definitely inspired us to continue our dreams when times got tough!
Oprah Winfrey, founder and CEO of OWN
“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”
Sara Blakey, founder of SPANX
“Trust your gut.”
What is the best part of your work day?
Working with an amazing team of women and getting things done. Going home to my cats and amazing husband to be (we’re getting married Oct 22)!
What are you most looking forward to in Year 2?
Continuing to be the innovative leader in the intimate apparel space. We are working on new designs, colors, styles, and expand our size offerings. We plan on growing our team and bringing manufacturing and production back to the USA. We are running production runs in the States now!
We can't wait to continue growing with you all and are so excited to show you what's in store as we continue to bring you more products that you love and Trusst. Stay tuned!
