The Daily Struggle: Back to Work
You know what is the biggest struggle of all time? Coming back to work after a 3-day weekend! It just throws off your entire week. First, you are super stressed because you have even more work to catch up on. Second, you have to wake up early and try to function after being carefree and sleeping in an extra day. Thirdly, it is super hard to get into a work mindset after a nice, long weekend.
Getting up and going to work is one thing, but actually getting work done is another. Literally me right now trying to write this daily struggle. Everyone wants to talk about their weekends and chit chat, which makes it harder to buckle down and focus on what needs to get done. The only good thing is that everyone else is in the same boat as you. Everyone else wants to talk and do anything they can from distracting themselves from the overload of work that needs to get done.
I asked all of my coworkers how they are feeling about being back at work today after a long weekend. Here are some of their responses:
“I am SUPER tired. Also, feeling unmotivated to start with all the work that needs to be done.” -Lauren
“I am tired. Longing for the next weekend already…” -Amanda
“REALLY GOOD. Fulfilled. Content. Feeling Me.” -Nirmal
“I feel tired and like I need another day.” -Chelsey
It is nice to know that I am not the only one who is tired and unmotivated after a long weekend! Well, except for Nirmal. It probably has a lot to do with it being his birthday. The good thing is, the week will go faster and the motivation will slowly begin to kick in before the weekend. It is just nerve wracking trying to get all the things that you need to do in a shorter amount of time. Who else has trouble getting back into the swing of things after a long weekend?
